IX is currently providing Eurus both technical and licensing (of permitting) advice for multiple battery energy storage systems (BESS) near their windfarms. Due to the incredible pressure on the Dutch electricity grid, a lot of parties start to look into energy storage as a solution. Energy storage systems can contribute to the grid-problems in a lot of positive ways. They can, for example take part in balancing services such as FCR, aFRR and the Dutch ‘Onbalansmarkt’. In areas where the energy production might be too high for the grid to handle, energy storage systems offer a buffer. This might be the perfect solution for renewable energy production assets, such as the Eurus windfarms. Electricity will be able to charge the grid more efficiently and the overall energy transition will delay less due to the lack of capacity on the grid.
